Well, according to Billion Tunes Counter, it's happened... of course, even with THEIR clock, your odds of hitting the mark are pretty damn slim. So I don't feel bad that I had to click Buy a couple of times after I clicked Buy Song... was a couple of seconds late according to BTC, but we'll see...

Good game everyone! I know I put in my 28 song-shot to pass 1 billion!

I really hope someone who only bought a few songs (and didn't buy a thousand or so) got it!

I wonder if Steve will be calling anyone right now?

We have a winner!

I know Steve like to tell everyone at events what time Apple hit 1B, so I marked "11:38pm". If he says something off from that we'll know that the counters were off.

I'm assuming that, if you're buying an album or collection or added 1000 songs to your cart, what counts is when you click, so you're better off buying a bunch of songs in succession than one big order. Would you all agree?

Of course, also, there's that 1:1,000,000 shot you'll actually click anything at all during the second the billionth song is purchased to even have a shot at winning.

Still, it's fun!
I bought a copy of Peter Gabriel's Red Rain from the Secret World Live CD... a song I already have, but I wanted to pick a cool one in case I won and they say what song the winner bought. ;)

Well, my two cents (or dollars, I guess) are thrown in. I've put less in each successive contest, but still can't quite pull myself away entirely. It begins to get annoying when you have to think "Okay, what songs do I want...that I'm not already going to buy on CD...and that wouldn't make me look like a total dork if I actually won..."

So let's see who wasted the most money in the last 5 minutes. I spent about $20. I just bought random singles and stuff, no albums.

What the hell you gonna do with 10 60GB iPods...give them away...or ebay them  :)

Hey..we should talk about what we would do with that stuff if we won. I would take the iMac and give my Mac mini to my dad, and I would give my best friend an iPod. I would sell an iPod at reduced price to one or two other people, and eBay the rest of them at full price. Is there any way to redeem the iTunes music card at an Apple store of store credit or cash? I would REALLY like store credit, that would be fun. $10,000 worth of music is pretty useless to me, and it would be useless for me to have that kind of money only to be spent on music.

EDIT: Crap I forgot and give some iPods to family members. I don't think I would keep one for myself I would just sell the rest because I prefer the smaller 30GB that I have.

u could always ebay the card...but it wouldn't be as special...shoot u might get more than $10,000 for the grand prize card

Random idea: the 1 billionth purchased song should be made a free download for like a week or something.
