Binding metadata to files

When I drag and copy files to iPhoto for instance, it copies the files' names but not their spotlight comments. Is there any workaround with spotlight comments so they're copied along with the file and not just thrown into a file's ns_store?

Doubtful. That's one of the problems with unstandardized metadata...
