Bindo is a GPS group tracker that tracks your own location and transmits this to your friends who also run Bindo on their iPhone. So you can see where your friends are at this moment and also your friends can see where you are.

    iTunes Link

Of course only those friends who you authenticate can see your location.

    Features:
    • Several different Map Styles, depending on your need.
    • Map data is cached, so if you go to the same place again, no need to download the maps again from the internet. You can also use this to download the map data via WiFi (e.g. at home or your hotel). Just pan over the area where you plan to go. Once you are out you can use these maps even without any internet connection.
    • Waypoints
You can add picture to your waypoint
Design the waypoint marker, to mark a camp site, bus stop, car etc.
Send the waypoint to your friends, who can import this incl. picture/photo
    • Trips
All your trips are recorded on the iPhone
You can send an entire trip to your friends, who might use it as reference for their own journey.
Colors and line strength of the trips can be indivodually adjusted.
    • Messages
You can send instant messages to your friends without leaving the App.

Hi, can you explain what the point of the app is really, considering both loopt (in the US) and google maps are free, and enable you to track anybody using the app, which is available on many, many devices?

BindoGPS has some major differences from Google Maps.
    1. It shows you where your friends are right now, and where they have been. Very useful when you go out hiking, biking and want to follow their trail.
    2. It records your own tracks and you can view them on Google Maps, and soon also on Google Earth.
    3. Waypoints, incl. pictures
    4. Send Push notification to your friends so that they update their location (Will be included in the next release, currently under review by Apple)

We have submitted V1.1 on BindoGPS to Apple for review. The most important new feature is Push Notifications.

With this you can ask your friend easily to start BindoGPS and update his location. Just tap on his name and we will get a Push Notification asking him to start BindoGPS.

Your friends will also receive a Push Notification when you send them a Message or when you send a friend request to somebody.

We have updated the BindoGPS website. You can now download your trip as KML file and view them in Google Earth.

Furthermore you can also view your location now "live" in Google Earth:
    • Start BindoGPS on the iPhone
    • Go to the BindoGPS website, login and download the KML file for live viewing
    • See your location in Google Earth.
You can also share this KML file with your friends, so they can see where you are.

Good luck with your app. I hope you can get a critical mass of networked users pricing the app at $1 and competing with Loopd.

You're the first to complain, but nevertheless here an explanation for the logo:
Bindo is Cantonese and means "Where are you?" So a guy who does not exactly know which way to go makes sense to me.

About Loopt: This is AFAIK only available in the US, where as BindoGPS works everywhere and has some major differences as I already pointed out a few days ago.

I think I read on here that 90% of the sales for apps are in the US, so having it be international might not be much of a revenue adder.

I also think pricing it at $1 will present a barrier to adoption. A free friend location sharing app/web app like Loopt or Google has a much higher chance of adoption with a free price point.

You might want to consider a free, ad-supported version given the potential stickiness of the application and the network benefits you'd get from a large install base.
