At least you bought something! The annoying thing is when people come in and talk to you for hours about Apple and their latest mac and you spend lots of time helping them, then they come back a week later for help with a brand new iMac they bought off Apple.com !

Nope I don't work at the Birmingham branch. It's quite a nice store there though.

I suppose that is annoying, especially for a reseller, as you need to make a profit. I made the mistake of buying my iBook from a reseller - from now on I am buying all my big apple stuff from the online store simply because student discount and can add stuff i want - like built in bluetooth.

the store is nice, they have a couple of iMacs, powerbook, ibook, powermac plus apple display, ipods and loads of software and extra hardware. they are really helpful too - installed my RAM for me 'cause i coudlnt :)

A common misconception. Resellers are usually allowed to do education discounts as well as being able to order BTO's.. i.e an iBook with bluetooth.

I knew that KRCS do student discount - but selfridges does not. Didn't know about being able to get BTOs there - learn somthing new each day :)

my bet is that with the launch of tiger on the 29th we will see a brummie apple store as well :D

Fingers crossed hope so! Will also get external firewire drive if they sell them - or from dixons - or a million other things i want!!!

Well I went in today and it was not open :(
Dissapointment definatley, but, if it does open the end of this month it means possibly Tiger and new iMacs will be out by then *fingers crossed* so 10% off them opening day??

A discount is what i'm hoping for, too! Might be making a quick trip in tomorrow so i'll have a look for any activity.

I went in last week and the boards were still up. The projected launch has come and gone and unless there's some serious rawl-plugging going on behind the facade, it might be a couple of weeks yet.

Well i emailed bullring as mentioned earlier and they said it should be done by the end of this month - so could be to coincide with Tiger yep :D

Another one from Brum here.

Does anyone know if they sell those bags full of stuff when each new apple store opens or was it just london?

Tower of Flower

I believe that Apple have stopped doing Lucky Bags after Regent Street. I hope it doesn't open on the 29th, because that is the day I go to the Regent Street store for the Tiger World Premiere Event party. I can't wait. :D

I'll be going, although mainly for a snoop if no product revisions are available by then. According to that news snippet, the store is unleashed at 6pm. Anyone here know how busy this thing's likely to get (queues, etc)??? I want me t-shirt (if that freebie comes to fruition), but I dunno if I could wait ages in the BullRing!

...Oh, and by the looks of it, the shop is open until midnight, which is unusual given that the rest of the Bullring shuts at around 8pm.

As I said before, we'll have to arrange to meet up. I'm going to get very bored in the queue for my commemorative t-shirt, and some company other than my iPod wouldn't go amiss. :)

The shops close earlier yep but you can get in till late - I have stayed in to at least around 10pm when the shops have shut as there is seating etc.

I doubt there will be much of a queue as its Birmingham - hardly the centre location of the world. Other than onlookers and kevs I am guessing hardly anyone :)

It's more or less the centre of the country though. :)

I agree that it probably isn't going to be huge huge queues, simply because it's a really inconvenient time for anyone outside of the immediate proximity to Birmingham to get there. For those that work, realistically only those within the city or in quick train journeys (about as far as Wolverhampton or Coventry) from Brum will be able to get there.

As a student with no lectures on Fridays though, I'm there.
