Birthday Calender

Can you turn off the birthday calendar in iOS 6 and not have them show up in the notification center? It works in OSX ML so i assume thats how it should work but right now if you uncheck it in ios5 the still show up in NC
 
I turned off the FB one (I made the mistake of integrating them with it) and I am still receiving birthday notifications in NC. No events are listed in my calendar, and these people are not in my contacts list. Yet, they are still appearing. Its VERY annoying. I only want birthdays of people in my contact's list, not my entire FB friends list.
