Birthday question

I was in my birthday callander today
and I noticed that I had some birthdays for people that I no longer have in my contact (aka my X girl) can someone tell me how to remove it?
cause you cant delete it 🙁

Delete the entries in the calendar that you sync with the iPhone. Resync.

I have tried that and its still there?
I also tried to do a restore and still there !!
