Hi.

What is the bit rate of of music purchased at iTunes Store?

I import all my CD's at 256kbs AAC. May seem like a bit much to some, but I have the disk space.

Have not purchased a song from iTunes yet, so just curious.

Thanks,

The iTunes music store offers AAC Protected Audio (.m4p) at a bitrate of 128 KBPS (equal to a 160 KBPS MP3 file). Some songs are encoded differently and are available for download at Variable Bitrates, most at 270 kbps AAC.

The songs are 99 cents each, including the higher bitrate songs.
Podcasts (iTunes 4.9) are free, select podcasts cost money.

Umm, Since when has .9 been released?
I think he was just saying that 4.9 will support PodCasts. It is a pretty well documented new feature for the upcoming version.

All of my CDs, Apple losless.

Sometimes WAV depending on the song/album and weather I like it.

I have the hard drive space.

my cds are mp3s with varying bit rates between 128kbps and 192kbps. I don't have a huge hard drive, only a 40gb, so i hope my 9.32gbs off music doesn't grow too quickly, it needs to last a good 3 more years. :(
