Hi All,

I have a few Intel Macs that still work perfectly, and are in the latest version of OSX. I want to start using them to mine bitcoins, but am a bit unclear on which miners work wel on OSX. I tried one called asteroid, but it is endlessly initialising.

I realize that there is no money in it, but it feels good to keep those macs in use. Any tips, or experiences on bitcoin miners in OSX let me know :)

Thanks in advance,

Crown

I used to be part of the Bitminter pool, which had an OSX client and worked well wtih my ATI 5870 card. This was about 3 years ago and the hash rate has increased so much since then that, even with a powerful GPU, you will get--litterally--zero from mining anymore. You'll just be wasting electricity.

If you want to put those macs to some use, I suggest you check out World Community Grid, which can actually do some good with your CPU power.

If you really want to do something with bitcoin, just download and run a full node of the blockchain, which you can do with any computer.
