OK. Just started to do my research here.

My understanding is that BiteSMS no longer functions in iOS 8.

Messages+ has been proposed as an alterative but I wanted to see if there was anything else at all the came close to Bite's interface.

Alternatives?

I agree. It was finally nice to see Apple put a quick reply into the OS, although very weak compared to bitesms, but I am also looking for a quick compose from the lock screen. If anyone could point me towards that would be awesome.

Basically it's limited. Messages+, couria is out now. There's also a tweak called dela to delay sending messages. Pretty nice if you want it

Out of all the awesome new tweaks, old updated ones, and new features in ios 8, this is the one thing (Bitesms) that is missing more than anything else. I really really loved how that app worked. I would pay 20 bucks a device to get that back.

I'm surprised given the demand for BiteSMS it is still yet to be seen... even something identical from other developers

Yeah, I'd pay again to get it back and I bought it a long time ago.

It's just superior. Unfortunately, even with the desire for it nothing seems to be coming of it.

It looks like my Messages will stay more or less stock unless I can find other things. I'm just not a big fan of Messages+'s interface.

Yeah, biteSMS will be truly missed. Those developers were geniuses. Does anyone know what happened and why there's no biteSMS update this iOS?

Nothing to fully compete with BiteSMS, but there is a dev working on something similar.

Just as an update to this, currently I am running Couria. That, combined with Eclipse 2, Copic and the stock ability to mute specific contacts has given me a poorman's BiteSMS. I'd appreciate having scheduled SMS again, but I was really only using that for one specific text to one contact each month so I can live with not having it.

Couria seems to work for now. But I hope BiteSMS makes it to iOS 8 soon.

How does Eclipse 2 contribute to that?

One of the original reasons I liked BiteSMS so much was because I could theme it. You can still theme it under iOS 7, but with Eclipse 2 I don't have to anymore.

I might be mistaken, but isn't there a tweak out there that allows for schedule sms?

Sorry. It's dele.

There's also senddelay which is a simple tweak.
Ahhh, ok. These are both more of a delayed sending type thing (hence the names). I was referring more to a scheduled SMS.

For example, at 9am on the 14th of each month send the following text to contact X.

I see DeLe lets you set delay options, but I'm not sure how setting a months worth of seconds would work, especially since there would be reboots and resprings in between. I'd also have to set it up again the next month.

Cool idea for second thoughts about a text message though. Thanks for the suggestions!

It's on his personal repo for download right now.

Can you share his repo?

Edit
Here is the repo apt.mootjeuh.com
I have downloaded it and like it for the compose text from the lock screen which was mainly what I wanted. My only problem right now is that when I reply a text from the lock screen I can't send the message. The send button is gone. Anyone else have the same problem?
