BiteSMS 8.0 is out in BigBoss. Release notes state that you are essentially installing version 7.5 if you are on iOS 6.

Which is whacked, because I had 7.6.8 installed and now my text heads are gone. Essentially the 8.0 update is a ROLLBACK if you were on 7.6.8.

Ugh.

7.6.8 still might be on their normal beta repo? cydia.bitesms.com if I remember correctly

Nope, the only one on the repo is the current beta and that's iOS 7 only.

It's not a huge loss because I really never used them, but I thought the contact pics in my NC were cool. Hopefully they'll reinstate the option.

If you're staying on iOS 6 and really liked the QR/QC capabilities of biteSMS. Check out the tweak called Messages. It's awesome. That's what used on iOS 6. It has a free trial. Check it out.

Thanks. I actually checked that out before I ever tried biteSMS (earlier last year). And I tried it again just recently when biteSMS was giving me fits (actually another tweak interfering with things).

I like it, it still seems to have some issues though. BiteSMS 7.5 was stable, I'm just missing the text heads is all. My fault for not heeding the warning, but seeing as I mainly use the text heads as eye candy I can live with it.

What kind of problems? I never had and issue, perhaps it conflicted with something. Flex might have a patch to enable chat heads.
I was getting some wierd issues where the messages were larger than the screen and I couldn't scroll.

It also advertised QR and QC via Activator but I could never find the actions in Activator itself and the Settings for the tweak didn't show them either.

What I saw was nice, but ultimately unusable. That said, I may have found an old version, IDK.

Bite has worked just fine for over a year. I just didn't care that a beta feature went bye bye because of a public update.

I've been using bite for 4 years. Last year I started using Messages and stayed with that until iOS 7. Now I'm back with the latest bite and only have had a rare crash here and there. I sure hope Messages gets updated for iOS 7 soon. I emailed Ma Jun a couple times but have never got a response. Maybe if more people emailed him?

Mine is still showing b19 as the latest. I don't even see the bitesms in big boss repo.

OK. So, according to Jason from support here is what's going on.

If you are on iOS 6.x and install version 8.0 of BiteSMS from the public repo Cydia will show version 8.0 as being installed, but the install process will actually install 7.5. BiteSMS will report 7.5 as the version number.

If you are on iOS 7.x and install version 8.0 of BiteSM from the public repo Cydia will show version 8.0 as being installed AND will actually install version 8.0. Bite SMS will report 8.0 as the version number.

If you were, like me, using a beta at one point (7.6.8) on iOS 6.x, doing this will overwrite the beta and roll you back to 7.5.

So…this is what happened. I unintentionally rolled myself back to 7.5. Trying to see if I can get back to 7.6.8 through support. We'll see!

Anyone been able to go from 8.0b19 to 8.0 final on iOS 7.0.4? And if so, how, because BigBoss isn't showing the version in their repo.

8.0 is the same as 8.0b19 per developer. That's why.

If a user wants to remain in the beta queue, 8.1 beta will be out soon from the test repo, and the dev said 8.0 and 8.0b19 are the same.

So I'm fine, staying put in the beta repo.

Been using bite for a year or so. This release runs great for me. Supported the developer and got a license today. We'll done.

bitesms beta 19 and public release 8.0 is the same

after you removed the test-cydia.bitesms.com repo, make sure you refresh to update your packages and the public release version of 8.0 should show up

you need to uninstall 8.0b19 to see 8.0

What lock screen tweak u use for the date and time stuff?
That's just my Notification Center, not my lockscreen…

1. Quick Compose Widget from biteSMS 7.6-Beta 8
2. Weather Widget (stock widget modified by the Forecast tweak (iOS 6))
3, TypographyTime for Notification Center
4. NCSettings
5. WeeKillBackgroundPro

Those are the first 5 things in my NC. If I scroll down, there's more.
