General BiteSMS 8.0

My beta version update now says 8.1.1 so curious should users just move to the official repo instead of beta now or is it fine just sticking indefinitely beta if there is no difference?

Edit: never mind reading on their forums and fine just to stick with the beta. Cool.

There's Typophone 4 and Typophone Weather. Both Winterboard themes in Cydia.

No idea if they'd work on a 5S. But I do have Typophone Weather running on my jailbroken iPhone 3GS.

Agh. So I finally buy it because with this morning's update they moved the ads to inside the chat log as oppose to the bottom of the conversation list. Well I bought it and now it won't display the menu when you tap on the contact picture / name in the top right unless you have ads enabled. This is ridiculous. Bleh.

whoa! didn't even realize this!

it's probably a bug with the new implementation of ads in the chat logs. i'll go check out the bitesms forums and see if anyone reported this problem; if not, i'll report it and they'll probably fix it by next week

i just checked and 8.1.2 and previous versions work fine when tapping on the contact picture

edit: the public version of bitesms will allow the tapping on the contact picture to work and ads to be removed, if that's a better workaround for you

edit 2: just checked the forums and appears that this bug is fixed in beta 4 which will be released probably in the next few days, or maybe even later today

Quite frankly, if you're just using BiteSMS for QC/QR... give Couria a look.

Gives that functionality and totally free :)

I just made the switch today. Not regretting it one bit.
 
Anyone having an issue where QR and QC sends out texts as regular text messages to other iphone users instead of imessages? However, in the app itself it sends out imessages ok? I'm on 8.1.3.

It's a quirk with BiteSMS. You have to enter the country code of the contact you want to iMessage. I went through all mine and entered the codes in Contacts so I don't have to worry about it anymore.

For the US, it would be +1. If you had say the following number, (123) 456-7890 to iMessage that number you'd enter: +11234567890.

You'll notice once you enter the country code there's a brief flicker and then the Send bubble will turn blue.

Thanks for the reply. I did what you said, but it's still not doing it for now at least.
 
OK. I shouldn't make a difference (I've been told it's simply a label), but pick one of your contacts that you iMessage regularly and in their contact, change the tag for their number to iPhone and save.

See if that takes care of it.

This is what I did and all iMessages started working perfectly. Once I changed the iMessage recipients to iPhone in my contacts app, all texts went through as iMessage :)

Yeah, I guess it makes a difference in biteSMS, but not the actual Messages app. I made this comment in the iPhone section here and got a bunch of feedback that I was incorrect.

So, again, I guess it's necessary for biteSMS.

does just "1" suffice or is "+1" needed?

maybe try a reboot too. the other day when it wouldn't send in bitesms quick compose/reply as imessage but inside the imessage app, it would send as imessage. i rebooted and the problem went away

fixed in the latest version of 8.1.4a
 
Sooooo does anyone's biteSMS status bar icon work? I thought it wasn't working all this time because it's in beta so I was fine with it, but I just noticed one of my friends has theirs working. The only difference is she's on a 4S and I'm on a 5.

Yep, definitely on. I have no idea what could be making this happen. I can't think of any status bar package, currently or past installed, that could have affected it.

EDIT: I'm going to attempt to delete it, remove anything from iFile relating to it, and then reinstall. Hopefully it works.

Okay, this is just lovely. I do that, remove the beta repo, install the not beta just in case instead of the other one, and now my phone is in a restart loop. I've even tried booting into safe mode with volume + while turning on. >.<
