I compiled and made a standalone package of Bitlbee with the Discord plugin for use on Leopard (PPC).
Dont trust public bitlbee servers? Then run this on your own machine instead.
Download here: Bitlbee-3.6
Read the README in the zip for more info.
Note: This will not interfere with macports installations, and it doesn't require that macports be installed.

Since i wasn't able to find LimeChat for PPC anywhere i grabbed the older 2.13 source ( https://github.com/psychs/limechat/releases?after=2.17 ) and built it for Leopard. The reason i like LimeChat is that it will display most inline images in regular IRC and in Bitlbee Discord. I've attached my Leopard build below if anybody is interested in it.

Once again, another app that does not work and I followed the instructions. Oh well. Limechat does not work. As for homebrew ? That too did not install.

Homebrew? There is no mention of it in this thread. Also saying something doesn't work without explaining what the issue was is about as useful as a port-a-potty at an outdoor concert that has no door and no toilet seat.
Ok, my apologies, limechat for Leopard did not work, even after configuring port range 6666-6667.. I saw your example of irssi and to install it - requires homebrew, which I tried to install it, but got a message saying SSL times out.

Gotcha. No need for irssi. Limechat will be easier as a "front end" for bitlbee. So limechat works, but won't connect. Make sure you started bitlbee first, then just type localhost in the blank server box in limechat. You should see the bitlbee welcome screen once connected. From there you can set up bitlbee to connect to discord.

Cheers

Also, for some reason the PPC messenger app you made isn’t working anymore. I tried to run it in Leopard and I get a blank screen.

Ok, I get this as in the pic - and when I type /join #macgarden-software nothing shows up - not all those names

You need to set up bitlbee to connect to discord. First you'll want to create a local bitlbee account. Click the "localhost" server near the bottom right. Then click on the &bitlbee channel. Here you can enter commands to set up your account.

Code:
register yourpassword (this will create a bitlbee account with your current username)
account add discord youremail yourpassword (use whatever your discord account is linked to)
account discord on

chat list discord (this will list all the servers and channels you are subscribed to)
(scroll through the list to find channels you want to add)

Say for example mac-yak general chat is #13 in the list... you would add it like so..
chat add discord !13 #MacYak-General (or whatever name you want to give it)
Now make it autojoin that channel on login..
chan #MacYak-General set auto_join true
save (this will save your current config)
/join #MacYak_general (will join the channel)

Continue the above process for all the discord channels you want.
Now next time you log in to bitlbee all you have to do is type: identify yourpassword and all your discord channels will be autojoined. It takes a little time to set it up, but once it's done you'll never have to go through this process again unless you want to add more channels, or join more discord servers.

Cheers

EDIT: here's a tip... you can grab and drag the text input box down to the bottom so it only shows 1 chat window. It's less confusing that way i think.

The initial setup will be the same regardless of which irc client you use. As long as you already have a discord account just follow the steps i posted above.
