Read more here. Has anyone seen this yet? I haven't seen it on here yet, thought it deserved a post though. This stuff amazes me.
OMFG......what the......?? Gotta love how they put the word baby in Quotes!! "baby"..... and "Nir Bahadur, the father, says he does not feel any remorse for the newly-born babys death" harsh man.... and the pic of them parading the poor "baby" through the streets in what looks like a bed pan....again...what the??? poor thing.
Mmmm...it's probably worth reading the information on snopes.com.... http://www.snopes.com/photos/medical/nepalbaby.asp It's not clear whether or not it's real... it's odd that no other news service has picked this up, even if it is in Nepal. As for them taking the baby through the streets in the pan... I don't think you should over-interpret it. They're Nepalese carrying out Nepalese customs with respect to death. They're not Americans. They have a right to do things in a way which seems sensible to them. To people in that part of the world, putting people in boxes and burying them in the dirt, instead of cremating them, seems like a very odd and unsavory practice. I know I was born in the United States, but because of my heritage, burial of bodies always creeped me out. But that's culturally relative. It's perfectly normal for Americans to do that.
Anencephaly, caused by a neural tube defect. http://www-medlib.med.utah.edu/WebPath/PEDHTML/PED031.html
Weird. I had a sudden swelling of pride knowing it was my school that had the information I don't want to sound like a monster but I can understand where the father is coming from. If this child were to live, you can only imagine the amounts of pain, both physical and emotional, that the kid would have to live with not to mention the emmence toll that it would place on the parents, both emotionally and financially. Think about the issues a kid with, say, Down Syndrome has. This is WAY past Down Syndrome.
I've seen weirder looking deformations in babies that were definitely not hoaxes, so I won't cry foul just yet. It does look a little "waxy" but then again it is allegedly a corpse we are looking at, so I would hardly expect a nice complexion...
Thats pretty crazy, and when i saw it i was like !!!!! However i do think it is mean that the father did not care that his son died, and that the news talked about him a a baby in quotes, seems mean. It looks big, really big for only being about 4lbs. ANd what is that cut on his stomach? looks like he was plastic and ripped. *I'll call him a male until it is proven as a fake just to be sure
I agree with mkrishnan - look at the pics listed in the snopes article. Given those pics, and the descriptions in the article and links, it's not impossible that this is real. Sad, really, to learn of this rare birth defect. Even if the article in the OP is revealed to be a hoax, the condition is real.
Am I the only one that thinks they could have put the baby down on purpose just to save a lifetime of problems for the family and him? If it's real, of course.
did anyone read the wikipedia article on anencephaly? doctors in america, or anywhere, won't even TRY to save a baby with it because the baby is never conscious. it's born unconscious and without the ability to ever think or feel pain or anything. no one with this condition lives longer than a couple of days. 95% of mothers who find out about it terminate the pregnancy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anencephaly
That is some wierd stuff, and that other link showing more pictures of the defect is even crazier. Sick stuff.
If it were real, the skin would look totally different, and the eyes probably wouldn't be open like that. I already knew of this birth defect. It's sickening that anyone would think to fake this. What incentive would they have??
Its real alright i am not sure what the disease/genetic disorder is called but i can tell you hat it is real. I will look up in my med books tomorrow, but this is definitely not fake.
