About a month ago I noticed what looked like a dead pixel on my M1 MBA screen, a small mark with distorted rainbow appearance. When I went to clean it with a microfiber cloth I realized that is was visible even with the screen off. It looks like a small indentation. Fast forward to today and I see a few more similar marks have appeared across the panel.

I've always taken incredible care of my MacBooks. I have no idea why these marks are popping up. The only similar report I can find online is something often referred to as "exploding pixels'.

We have 2 M1 Airs in the house, the other one is a couple months older and doesn't have this issue. Hopefully this is pretty rare.

Had a similar problem on my old 2013 13” (which I still have) - Apple replaced the display under AppleCare as a defect.
