I just installed OS 10.1 and it goes to any website I want with IE 5.1 but for some reason it freezes the whole computer to where I get that little disk spinny thing that moves but I can't do anything! The only solution seems to be to unplug the iMac and don't EVER go to google! What gives?

Freezing Mac

I just installed OS 10.1 and it goes to any website I want with IE 5.1 but for some reason it freezes the whole computer to where I get that little disk spinny thing that moves but I can't do anything! The only solution seems to be to unplug the iMac and don't EVER go to google! What gives?

First off, IE 5.1 was the spawn of the devil himself. Install another browser on the computer please!! It is screaming for help as we speak  Secondly, make sure you install all the available updates for the OS (I am not sure if Apple still supports 10.1 through the software update tool, but it is worth a try). Software update is in System Prefs. Third, before you unplug the computer, try to force quit. It is much better for the hardware than unplugging it. You can force quit by pressing the following keys: Command, Option, ESC. You will get a task manager looking thing and just choose the non responsive program and choose the force quit button at the bottom of the window.

Good luck!
