I have many VHS tapes from the 1980s and 90s which have been digitized into mp4 files using EyeTV hardware. The quality is pretty much what you expect from VHS compared to modern video, i.e. blurry, poor contrast at times, etc. Any recommended “black box” apps for the Mac that can do some auto-enhancement on these videos, similar to the tools available for photos? By “black box” I mean with little manual control or futzing around required! Just want to make them a little more enjoyable to watch, not necessarily 4K-restoration level video.

I came here looking for something similar.

Will Topaz AI make it look clear 1080p or just kind of clean it up? I'm looking for something to do a little color correction and to get the noise and jitters out. HD would be nice but I don't want it to look artificial.

Topaz video AI is prob the leader right now. It does greatly enhance older video but it often introduces sometimes a plastic look and weird eyes etc 😀
I use it a lot on PC and have had some awesome - and some not so awesome results so you need to play about with it.
It doesn’t run that great on Mac though and if you have an older machine, it can take hours or even a day to render a long movie.

I think I have about 3 hours worth of video total. I think I saw I can do a month thing. Are the adjustments and cleanups something that is adjustable or an all or nothing thing? I'd just want slight color adjustment and noise reduction. I don't need wrinkles removed and all that.
