It shows how astronomically priced Apple gear is now that even with decent discounts, the prices are still way above what I'd consider. Especially with practically portless, dodgy keyboarded, gimmicky gimped MacBooks that aren't fit for purpose, not for my needs.

I just so wish I'd bought a higher spec MBPr in 2013, had I known that that was going to be the last proper computer they'd make for over half a decade. It's both laughable and frustrating.

Who,buys this crap, no ssd on iMac. This is disgusting and embarrassing! What has apple become, a junk yard seller?

Black Friday deals stink when you have no more funds allocated for shopping. If I would have held my 2018 purchases until today I would have some extra cash but nah, too late. Ha.

Maybe. However, Macrumors forums have become a non stop b*tch and moan fest about apple.

nothing on the apple TV 4k besides what apple is offering?

Best deal was the DirecTv deal for a free apple Tv with 3 months purchase of DirecTv :D

I am with you, but I can count my lucky stars.

I bought from B&H for my lovely wife a mid-2014 MBPr (2.8GHz, 16, 512) for $700 off during Black Friday 2015.

And, it is one of the last Mohicans.

Not only because it preserves the classic ports, and nVIDIA dGPU, but because with Transcend JetDrive 855 one has the ability to upgrade to a 1TB SSD, PCIe Gen3 x4. (Transcend JetDrive simply rocks!)

This stops cold, from 2016 on, with all Apple platforms built with uber-expensive, soldered flash.

Horrible deals if you want an SSD in your 27” iMac. Just ordered from Apple and got the Apple TV for free because of the $200 GC.

I picked up a 13" MBP not really happy about buying one, but my battery just died on my MBA and I need a laptop for an upcoming demo.

If I were in the market for a used mbp 13, which model should I be looking at. I was looking at mid 2013 and newer. From what I've read you get what you buy and they're not upgradeable (ram and ssd).

I replaced my ATV from the att direct v now promo with a fire cube 4k. Alexa is so smart and easy on lazy snowy days . No crappy remote needed.
You can buy my ATV

First, wade thru the www.everymac.com site, to walk the differences and similarities among the MBPr model years 2013 thru 2015. (Do not purchase anything beyond 2015, and zoom-in on either 2014 or preferably 2015.)

Here is the specific URL to your request:
https://everymac.com/systems/apple/...ok-pro-retina-display-13-inch-early-2015.html

Some opinions:

Relative to RAM: most important, because it is soldered.
You get what you buy. 8GB was standard. 16GB was maximum and only for BTO configurations.

Relative to SSD: note the Transcend option for future upgrade.
No less than 256G (although 128G was the minimum). The good news is that Transcend (https://us.transcend-info.com) has excellent aftermarket, internal SSD boards (up to 1TB) for these model years. (Nothing at or beyond 2016 because the SSD is soldered.)

Relative to Processor and Graphics Unit:
Typically the 13-inch carries the i5 processor and uses the iNTEL Iris integrated GPU. The EveryMac site explains the differences among the different model-years.

Bottom line, the 2015 model is preferable: better battery, 4-lane PCIe to storage, one year younger towards 5-year software updates and hardware repairs. The laptop display, keyboard, and case remain a constant.

Hope this helps.

Prices feel still quite high even after the “sale.”

No chance it’s quite deserved?

Agree! I took advantage of that and am prettt satisfied, even with the gawdawful ATVremote and gawdawfuller DTVN app.

Exactly this. Enthusiasm level zero.

Only one product Apple makes now is barely worth what they are charging: The 6th gen iPad 128 LTE (so it has GPS). And of course it is not on sale.

I picked up the 18 MBA from Microcenter for 999. It is a GREAT machine - really digging it! More even than I expected.

I don't see what the moaning is all about. 2018 models are quite fast. Yes, they're pricey so I bought mine used but they're definitely faster than 2015 and older machines. As for late 2013s - the 2014 is essentially identical in every way except for a minor CPU speed bump. Even with Apple SSDs they're still quite adequate for most folks who don't do pro stuff. 2015s seem to be the pinnacle of that generation of laptops, they were made for a long time and there are plenty around. You can always buy them used.
