There are plenty of references and source regarding the 2019 KB. The truth is I have not found very many issues with the 2019 Keyboard, and certainly far fewer problems than the older versions after 4 months in the wild.

Now, you really need to work on your etiquette. Stop personally attacking people. Stop using incendiary and vulgar language. Stop assuming that your trade-offs and priorities are the same as everyone else, and therefore, your choice is the right one for everybody else. Try to respect others' and their choices.

But most of all, you need to stop being so defensive about purchasing a 2017 MBA. It is ok. Sure there are people that will criticize the screen and older design, but stop letting that bother you so much. You don't need to keep justifying it. The older MBA was a great computer. My 2014 MBA was one of my favorite all time devices. You should be happy with your computer. If you are starting to regret the decision, don't pick fights on tech forums and insult people just so you feel better about it. Instead, research your options. Maybe you could trade it in. I understand BB has some great deals right now.😀

This is my last reply to you. Hopefully, you will improve your communication skills, and we can chat again on this forum. Let's see how you comport yourself.

Magic KB on the new 16” MBP, enough said, thank you for your contribution.;)

Not a certainty that the new Magic Keyboard will finds it's way onto the MBA anytime soon. So, I don't see how this announcement influences a decision to purchase an MBA today from BB for $200 discount. We might not see a change until the next major update in a few years....TBD. Also, the implementation of the magic Keyboard on a new 16in MBP says nothing about the reliability of the 2019 version of the butterfly mechanism because work on the new MBP likely started a long time before the 2019 KB was released.

Per today's CNET interview with Schiller:

Will this keyboard find its way to other MacBooks? There are folks who don't need the power of the MacBook Pro, but may appreciate the tactile experience.
I can't say today. We are continuing both keyboard designs.

How hard would it be to put the new keyboard into a slimmer design?
Keyboards in general are a lot of work. People sometimes underestimate how much work goes into a keyboard, and that's why most keyboards in the industry don't change for 10 or 20 years. Adapting that to a notebook is more work. It's not impossible, but it's definitely a lot of work.

Also, in other parts of the interview, Schiller asserts that Apple has made a lot of progress, over the last 3 iterations, with the Butterfly keyboard in terms of stability and reliability.

Per Schiller:

"Over the years we've been refining that keyboard design, and we're now on the third generation, and a lot of people are much happier with that as we've advanced and advanced it."

Also, work on this new keyboard started years before the 2019 Butterfly KB was released:

"But a few years back, we decided that while we were advancing the butterfly keyboard, we would also -- specifically for our pro customer -- go back and really talk to many pro customers about what they most want in a keyboard and did a bunch of research."

You do realize that Phil S. is a company representative, he has said things in the past and within a few months if not a year Apple releases the same thing Phil mentioned that there is XYZ problem with the present tech. For example Qi, Apple changed nothing yet looked down upon it while introducing it with the slower 5W vice 15W that was available. Go figure I don’t place any weight to what Phil says.

History is the best indicator, Butterfly Mech v1 was released on the MB line then spread to the MBP and finally rMBA line, logic dictates it will make its way to the entire lineup. As per Apple replacing a KB unit under the Butterfly Mech is not only expensive but time consuming and having a 4 year warranty on those is not cheap either as Apple still has to produce, store and ship those replacement parts for that promise period.

Scissor Mech KB have been used for decades and are reliable, I don’t know anyone who complained that it was horrible for 2+ decades, fact being Apple had one of the best laptop KB before they decided to over innovate without proper testing. Apple rarely admits it made a mistake and it is evident is Phil’s responses.

People are also not a fan of the TB, however it is something less used compared to the KB. I predict a future MBA with this Pro KB without a TB. But like those who purchased a 2019 15” MBP you can keep convincing yourself you made the right choice with the discounts you got. No amount of discount would persuade me to purchase a Butterfly Mech KB any Mac laptop.

Today’s 16” MBP announcement was excellent news and I can get it cheaper even with the discounts some merchants are offering. However I am in the market for a smaller display size 14” or under to replace my mid-2014 13” MBP that still runs great but will gift it to a family member.

My work time is valuable to me and even the slightest chance that an established tech has been reinvented and there is a slight chance I will have to take it into the shop for warranty repairs is a big inconvenience and lost revenue. But whatever you got a great discount now for the time your rMBA may spend hours if not days or weeks in the shop for a KB replacement.

Yes. I purchased a Series 4 watch and an Apple TV 4K and got the 1 year tv+. Watching it now.

i‘m kicking myself for missing the HomePod door buster sale. Will this likely go back on sale on Black Friday?

I never got it to work based on purchase. I had to call support and get a code. All good now.

Well. As I think about it. I did not enter any proof of purchase. It just asked if I wanted to take advantage of the free year. I thought it was linked to my iCloud account.

I guess it recognizes a new machine when you first run the installation and sign in to iCloud on a new device. But it didn’t work for me.
