I just purchased this mount for my car

http://www.proclipusa.com/phone-hol...e-attachmen-514667-19736.cmsv?p_leftorright=0

Now, it requires i use the official apple lightning cable but I would like the cable to be black instead to match the interior of my car. I can't use just any lightning cable as the plug will not fit with the mount properly. Is there a black lightning cable that has the same lightning plug as the official apple one?

Thanks.

Unfortunately I'm not aware of any, your best bet is likely spray paint or plastidip on an original cable.

This cable has the same size end as apples:

OP, Consider returning it and getting the model that uses the 30pin lightning adapter. Easy to get black 30pin cable. Then only adapter is white. You'll have hard time finding third party cable that fits with proclip.

What's wrong with the thousands of black Lightning cables from e.g. Amazon?

Monoprice cables are all MFI certified, meaning they're Apple certified and authorized, 100% compatible and works just the same. Get a 6ft one so you can hide the cables behind dash, rubber, plastic, etc.

The longer cables are thicker than factory ones also, so they're not as bendable at the ends as Apple ones. The head sizes are the same.

see the original post. The OP needs something that fits into the pro clip connector. The model they bought is designed to accept just the apple USB lightning cable. The lightning connector part clips in to the holder. There is no wiggle room. The lightning end on the cable, including the plastic, would have to be an exact match to the apple cable.

I have yet to find a 6ft cable MFI certified cable that has the same size head as the Apple cable. I have 7 different cables sitting here that are either longer, fatter or flatter and wider. The 6 foot cable on monoprice has a visibly different size head than the smaller ones.

This one looks like it is the size of apples.

For a third party cable to work with the pro clip it would have to be a perfect match. I've never seen one that was a perfect match to Apple's.

Would be better and I would have bought one if Proclip made a holder with a build in lightning cable with a usb on the end instead of the cig lighter or hardwire. My iphone connects to my stereo via usb for carplay.

The cig version is USB.

I had the same issue with my proclip for the old 5. Went to hardware store and purchased black plastidip. Painters tape to tape off metal connections and applied several light coats. I hung the taped cable from one end outside so I could evenly apply paint around the circumference of the wire. Then left hanging to dry. 2 years later and still looks great. Still has same flexibility as original. And easy to respray if needed. Plastidip is the answer.

Cmd+F and search for "fit" in comments tells me this is exactly the same dimensions. Someone else argues that the plug is actually smaller than the official cable.

Is it supposed to be the same or smaller, or THE SAME only?

There is a small piece of plastic holding it on. A connector that is too small may wiggle and / or not stay in the holder.

Black Lightning Cable where the plug is the same as the Official Apple one

The solution is simple - just buy 0.5m of heat shrink of eBay for $1 and borrow a heat gun. That's what I did for use with my proclip and you can't tell it was once white.

Try Moshi. I'm using the gold version here though cos they ran out the black ones in the store I was at
