Hi I just got a black Macbook (my first!) and I have two questions regarding the build quality:

1) Is the black Macbook safe to pick up one-handed?

Example: when the Macbook is closed in my backpack, can I grip it with one hand? Will the screen flex?

2) Will the screen touch the keyboard when closed and I pick it up one-handed?

I noticed there was a piece of black cloth that came with out-of-the-box along with the Install DVDs and accessories. Does anyone put this cloth between the screen and keyboard?

You worry too much. Take that as your answer 😛

I carry my Macbook around with one hand frequently. Yes, the screen will touch the keyboard ever-so-slightly with closed, but holding it one hand will not affect it.

I don't carry mine one-handed (mostly because I've had wrist problems from tennis/work). Generally, I'm careful with the laptop but I don't baby it, seems sturdy enough.

The cloth is to clean the laptop when it gets greasy or dusty. I don't put it between the keyboard and screen.

Enjoy the new laptop!
