MMmmm depends on what you intend to use it for. It is rather old and who knows if the battery maintains a good charge. I would ask to see a screenshot of the System Information under Power and see how many Charge Cycles it has been through.

Apple still sells batteries for this MacBook for about $119, almost as much as you are buying the laptop for.

I have one in flawless condition still but I've been using it without a battery for several years now because they are so expensive. The cheap batteries sold on eBay are just that, cheap and often times don't work long and fail.

The last black MB was made in 2008 so yes, they are old.

I have passed 3 down to my Grand daughter's, all with new 256 OWC SSD's, new Apple Batteries,(3 hours max usage, these aren't MBA's), so make sure you get a good charger. They leave them basically plugged in, but are thrilled to have their first Laptops. When the new 12"MBA arrives, I will be passing a 2008 15" MBP with a 256 SSD and 8GB RAM to the 13 year old, so all will be using "old" Apple black MB/MBP's. The "girls" LOVE their Mac's, they also use Mac's in school, so they know their way around the :apple: software.
