There is some validity in this.
Black or silver seem like the corporate color these days.
Personally, I love the black look as well. If I went with a MB, I would be the black one.

i hate how easily the white macbook attracts scratches. i'd pick the fingerprint-prone black macbook over the white.
Hands down, you've got the best-looking Macbook I've ever seen. I like the atmosphere of wherever you took the pictures, too. Looks mellow.

that's the decking to the side of my house. It's brilliant on a sunday morning at about 10:00 with a bowl of cereal, a glass of juice and the morning's newspaper

Personally, Im not a big fan of the gloss on the MB White, but it does hide scratches from normal use real well. I love the brushed black look, and if you wanted to make it glossy, just buy the Invisible Shield film to put over it and voila.
Also, on the black model, natural oils from your fingers, sweat and grime from your sweat/normal use will be A LOT more noticeable, and a lot harder to clean off. Scratches on the case from normal use will also be a lot more noticeable.
On black model, the gradual use of the of Trackpad will cause it to get really oily, really quick. You'll have a big spot of "gloss" on the trackpad, and its just weird. This happens on any trackpad, but much more noticeable on the black.

Black vs. White?
I just ordered a Black MBP.... I've had a white one in the past (one of the first generations) and within a few months there were two dark discolorations on the palm rest and the bottom side of the laptop ended up looking like it had zebra stripes.
People say the black one shows grease, and while this may be true, the white one shows grease and dirt just as badly. But I think the black is more professional and allows the Apple logo to stand out more (it's almost invisible on the white ones) and I want people knowing I use Mac! Heh....
I'm glad I went with the black, I can't wait until it gets here!
I will be buying a key protector and probably a clear outer shell, any ideas for good brands or products?

I love the look and feel of the matte black casing, but I found the screen bezel made the display look small, the trackpad looked bad after a few minutes use, and the keys were harder to read than the white macbook. That's why I did this to mine:
Very classy, I love my white macbook but also have a black macbook which I can't stand cause of the black keys, I work in a dark environment so it's difficult to see the keyboard at times. I just purchased a white top case and white screen bezel on ebay for around $50 to make this mod. I originally changed out my black keys for white ones and it's looks really nice but after seeing this mod I couldn't resist giving it a try, thanks for the inspiration and posting these pics, can't wait to get my parts and do this mod. Kudos!

Hey guys, as requested here are a few pics of my B&W MacBook. I broke out my white MB as a comparison. Sorry for the bad quality pics and poor setup, I just did a quick shoot to show you how it turned out.
White MB 2.4Ghz, 4GB Ram, 320GB HD (Final Cut Machine)
B&W MB 2.0Ghz, 2GB Ram, 120GB HD (Daily Beater)
I couldn't be happier with this mod, I can actually see the keyboard in my dark work environment now. I paid $55 for the parts and it took less than an hour to complete the process. I sold my black topcase and screen bezel for $50 cause it was still in perfect condition so it only cost me $5 plus time in the end.
I also upgraded the keyboard from Version 1 to Version 2 and all the controls work perfectly. I think this applies to 10.4.8 and higher but correct me if I am wrong.
