Is there any way to set the all-black wallpaper that was present in iOS 15 and below?

I’m just looking at wallpaper options for the Home Screen and the only options I can see are images or gradients. Is it not possible to a) set any of the iOS 15 wallpapers (of which there was an all-black option) or b) have a solid colour option?

Yes! I’ve searched high and low to find some way of getting a solid colour, or the old image, set as the Home Screen wallpaper, but haven’t been able to find a non-gradient option. Where did you find it?

It is really hard to find—just did a Google Images search and came up empty-handed :( It’s my favorite default iPhone wallpaper on OLED iPhones (and in general) and once I saw they removed it I decided I am never changing it

I only set the colors to black

In wallpaper menu

scroll to the bottom color section
Choose any one
Swipe left until you get to solid
Tap color menu in the lower left corner
Pick black
Move slider all the way to the right
Tap x to close color menu
Tape done

I’ve tried that but the result isn’t a truly black wallpaper like the old default black image—it has an annoying grayish cast.

I get the frustration. Why must they remove wallpaper at all?!

But.. Surely just make a picture in the notes app. Draw a big black splodge. Screenshot it. Stretch it a bit and make it the wallpaper 😃

Make sure before you enter the color selector menu you swipe the wallpaper until you get the 'solid' color option. Also the 'black' on the bottom right isn't actually black, you need to click on the color wheel on the top left of the color panel (yes, it's a button) and you'll get a secondary advanced color picker. from there you can pick true black. once you exit the advanced secondary color menu you MUST swipe the bottom color bar all the way to the right (this removes any gray tones).

if you do all of that you'll get true OLED black again.

How to get true black back:

OPEN SPOILER (to prevent long post)

CHOOSE ANY "COLOR" WALLPAPER IN THE NEW WALLPAPER MENU, THEN:

Thank you!! I could have sworn I tried this and couldn’t get it to work in beta 1–I must’ve been doing something wrong. Good to know the capacity is still there!
