I was going to buy a black scorpio 500GB SATA II to update my late 2008 macbook(not pro)

but I did a quick research and came up with this thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15041838#15041838

people seem to have an issue installing black scorpio on their MacBooks from that time.

Can any one clear up the situation for me? Is there another brand I should go for? I don't want to pay $100 for a hard drive that will ruin my system

You won't :) I have been rocking it for more than a year, and it runs smoothly!
