Black screen until I press button

I have an ATV4 and up till recently I had a 42" Toshiba LCD TV, about 9 years old.

Now, I have a 55" Sony 4K TV, brand new. When I switch over to the Apple TV source, I get a black screen until I press a button on the Apple TV remote. This never happened on previous TV.

Been through TV setting, nothing obvious jumps out.

Any ideas?

Is it because the ATV is in standby mode?

Don't think so, light is always on, and it never did it before, and I've not changed any ATV settings.

Maybe the new TV does that - simply different from your old TV's response to a changed input.

Ok, maybe, but it doesn't do it on any other source, just Apple TV

I have a new X850C 55" sony and when I change imput to my ATV4 it goes straight to the home screen.

I think I'll just a command to my Harmony remote to press Menu or something when i switch to apple TV

My Apple TV was going to black screen instead of going to my screen saver. Used to go to aerial view then other day noticed it was just black screen. I'd click the menu button and would briefly show the aerial view again before going back to home page. I reset my Apple TV and now working fine again.
