I've been diagnosing an issue with a family member's mid-2014 Macbook Pro 15", when trying to boot up normally, the screen is black and stays black.
However, if I try to boot and select Option right away, the screen comes on fine.
I think the computer has an issue with the discrete graphics card - there was an issue with a pantry moth infestation and one of the fans got ruined and I think the graphics card was damaged.
Any idea why the screen wont come on when trying to boot normally, but when I press option right after turning it on, the screen comes on?
