Hello. Today I noticed a black smudge spot on the bottom of my camera. The pictures I take have this same spot. This doesn't happen with the front camera, just the back camera. I've rebooted and reset my phone but the smudge spot is still visible. Any suggestions why this could be?

Do you believe that black spot is internal or external on the glass of the camera lens?

I believe it is internal. I've looked st the camera lens and see nothing there

Perhaps it's some form of debris embedded inside the lens cover. If you shake it or move it, doesn't move around? Or is stuck in one spot?

If nothing is visible on the lens, it could be dirt on your sensor. Happens on my Nikons from time to time. Of course it's much easier to deal with on a DSLR!
If it's under warranty take it to Apple and get it replaced/repaired.

The old trick is to whack it on its side on a desk or something hard to dislodge the speck of dirt. Of course lay down a book or something to avoid damaging the phone. If that doesn't work it's off to Apple....

Huh. I'll try that.

I'm going to try spraying compressed air. Maybe there's something that could be easily removed. Maybe not.

It stays put as far as I know.

No pics attached to this thread?
The black smudge is kinda hard to see, but it's bottom center.

Yea I'm trying. The Genius Bar can't get me in until next week.

You should have the option of where you can send it in via UPS/FedEx, Apple will send you a replacement device overnight if you wish, place a hold on your card and if they can verify the defect, you will not be charged.

Is that not only for AC+?

You might be correct for the overnight option. (Unless someone wanted to pay extra for the overnight shipping out of pocket.) But if someone didn't have an Apple Store with in reach, Apple would mail a replacement device first, once received, the defective phone is mailed back. Once the defect is verified, Apple removes the hold from the card.
