Hey guys! I will be purchasing the iPhone 7 Plus 256GB in Silver most definitely but also thinking about the Black Color(Matte Black). In terms of black, and jet black, wouldn't the color be more stealthy and subtle. No one could tell that it's an iPhone from a distance, and could be mistaken for any "normal" phone, but with the silver model that Apple logo really does stick out since it's more noticeable and screams iPhone! Wouldn't Silver be the color to go with to stand out and say, yes this is an iPhone. My experience with a black phone versus the white one would be a simple scenario at a local mall when having a black phone, no one really noticed a long while along with colleagues. But after getting my white 6s Plus, everyone should ask me about the phone and once someone even stopped me to ask about it. This may not happen every time but it was worth noting.

Yup, if ur buying the 7, you need to get the black or jet black or its like buying the phone that looks like the iphone 6 released in 2014

Ah yes, I still really love the silver version and i understand why everyone wants the new color just because of the difference compared to the previous year models. The white screen bezel is also a plus for me.

God forbid my phone be mistaken for any "normal" phone
That's why I plan to wear a big sign that identifies my phone as an iPhone 7 so it won't be mistaken for last year's phone or anything else
That way I can get the black phone without worrying about it

Do you seek attention and validation from people based on your phone?

Nobody, and I mean nobody, gives a damn what phone you have. Your iPhone is one of a billion, it's nothing to coo and caw over.

What's that old saying, something about buying crap you can't afford to impress people you don't like? Something something.

Well said. OP must be very young, or insecure.

I am 18.

Sorry about the negativity in this thread here's a joke: I'm afraid Apple are falling behind badly in the "recognizable-at-a-distance" race.

Samsung are clear winners.

"Hey! See that guy over there? He's using a Samsung phone."

"Really? How can you tell?"

"His hair is on fire."

And yes i am that one person who wants to stand out if you put it straight forward.

I might go for the black and not care about the attention status anymore.

Yup, that's the reason (18 years old)

Problem is, it actually isn't a joke to you, but it is to all of us.

And people say it just ain't so anymore and then we have this ... it's so.

Can you imagine the sales if Apple lit up the iPhone logo like they do on laptops - stratospheric.

There are plenty of the same comments here but there is no hard time given for these guys who comment this and rather me.

I'm buying Silver or Gold so people could clearly see the dual-camera and know that I have the latest model. Unfortunately, on Black, the camera is less noticeable."

#52 Whenever I ride a crowded subway, I take the case off. It'll be much easier to show off the dark dual camera against a lighter iPhone back.

I dunno, I still think that no matter how black the black may be, people still don't notice it because it's just black. A black dual camera is much more noticeable on a light case.

My phone spends more time in my pocket than anything else
So people don't ask me "hey, is that last year's iPhone" or "is that a 'normal' phone"
They ask me, "is that your iPhone 7+ or are you just happy to see me"

Crazy world we live in. Why do you care so much about what complete strangers think? Just get your phone and enjoy it

I do have fun looking at all the phones when I am out and about. The thing is, I never really notice the people holding the phones. I just like to see different phone makes, models, colors and case combinations. iPhones aren't a big deal anymore because they are so common.

If you really want to be an attention-getting jackass, get a Samsung and go up to an old fashioned register and use Samsung pay. Then when the clerk looks all apologetic and says "Sorry, We don't take Apple Pay here," smirk and say "Oh but this isn't Apple Pay" and then smile as the transaction goes through. Jaws drop. A good time is had by all.

That was my experience with the Note 7 until the recall. Good times. I'm 50 and this is what passes for fun when you're an old bat. ;):D And yes, I am just joking around here.

In a more serious tone...dude, just get what you truly enjoy. If you're having a good time and happy in your own skin because you're being true to who you are and what you genuinely like, you will be the one people notice and not your damned phone. And that is way better. Take it from a happy old bat!

Nobody said anything because those were comments in passing as part of other topics. This is a whole thread devoted to making a purchase decision based on a kind of vanity most people over 21 have learned to shrug off. Most of the time. I've seen some exceptions among my age group.

The only thing I notice these days IS the number of smartphone owners with cracked screens and there are a lot of cracked screens in the wild ... some of which I even wonder how the owner uses it.
