Black wallpaper makes animation smoother?

I wonder if it’s a placebo or not, on my iPhone 6 Plus, animation of Notification Centre would be jittery if I use the default iOS 11 wallpaper, which is colourful and vibrant (possibly costing a lot of system resource to generate the blur effect)
Just now I switched my wallpaper to a complete dark one that come with iOS 11. Woah, my notification centre and control centre is finally smooth as butter. I wonder if there’s similar experience or not

Anything other than full black on my 7+ causes horrible visual animations (or lack there of)
