black, white & gold iphone marketing

With the introduction of the 5 & 5s there was a lot of promotion for the white iphone. Also with the introduction of iOS many people complained that it was too white.

Now with the 6, they seem to focus again on the grey slate aka black iPhone. Anyone else sees this? I find that the gold seems to be not that prominent anymore either.

Or is it more balanced now?

Gold for the 5/5S was created due to a shortage.

Does not look that way for the 6. Gold is kinda old and cheap looking to me. Always get black/grey.

They play round robin. If they push the white iPhone 5.

Then when the iPhone 5S launches a year later, which looks very similar, they push the black slightly more, the device feels fresher.
