You realize that you spent so much money for a smartphone which a primary function has been reduced by switching networks (your down from roughly 500Kbps+ data speed to 140-180kbps PEAK relying on EDGE), right?

Why not just simply wait out the current rumors and see if the NAM 3G version actually debuts? Even if I had to cash I'd never do this. Sure its your cash, your decision, and your right ... but all for the love of touchscreen?? Why not just get a Bold and wait for the Storm with 3.5G on AT&T or any other NAM provider in the next 4mths??

I dont want to feel like a dick for saying this but money isnt an option with me. And plus most of the time im in an NOT in an area with 3G and dont care for it since ill use it about 10 minuets out of the whole monht. Plus my MacPro has to go everywhere with me so why bother?

I thought i would share some random thoughts as i too have had a storm for quite a while....
First i'll get this out of the way... This is my second blackberry..i had the pearl before.
I always wanted an iphone but too things are stopping me... one is ATT service and second the 'rents pay the bill and don't want to switch so i'm stuck on the big V.

When i first got the storm the updated OS wasn't out and was ready to toss it out the window. But a few days later the update came and was pretty happy.
The typing is ok. At first i was used to the suretype with my pearl and the keys but i quickly learned tricks for me to type correctly with the full keyboard. For me the trick was just to type like it was a keyboard. Don't highlight the keys then press just start typing away. And i'm getting pretty fast with it, granted i don't compose large emails. If your always replying to emails this is not the phone for you.
Because the screen clicks it has gaps between the edges. RIM needs to fix this for the storm 2 as dust is in side and could see this becoming a problem down the line.
The built in browser is utter crap. its so slow. Download opera mini and your golden. it flies. Its almost as fast as my connection at home.
The phone part is ok. When the phone rings the screen has options to end/talk/mute and i always seem to press them when i reach into my pocket to answer...(why have physical buttons if your going to have options on the screen?)
updating - because RIM is RIM and thinks everyone uses windows updating sucks. Yes you can do OTA but its much slower. So every time there is an updated i have to go on my brother computer and use bootcamp. Syncing music and pictures i wish was easier like using an iphone.
The feel is ok. its basically a rectangle. it was a big heaving going from the pearl to the storm but have gotten used to it. The side convience keys i think need to be out more. If i'm on a call and want to adjust the volume its very hard too adjust.
Call quality is very good i can hear the other side fine and they can hear me fine as well.

I hope for the storm they make it slimmer and lighter and maybe add some more styling to it. They need to fix the screen gap/dust issue.

This must be written by a BB employee. I tried the Storm and returned it as it was terrible to use. Touch screen? You had to imprint your fingers into the screen to make it work...

HA. No sir!

Anyways want to give a little update! As some of you know 4.7.0.90 was leaked the other day onto the interwebz and it has made its way around! it was weird as it was getting some crazy hype and ive never seen this before with a leaked OS for the storm! After reading everything about .90 and people just giving it thumbs up left and right i decided to upgade to it!
So here i am after using .90 for 12 hours after using .75 since i bought the phone and all i can say is WOW!
Speed has increased by atleast 60%! this thing blazes now!
The Accelerometer is sooo touchy and perfect now! the second the phone is turned to its side now its turned the screen to! no more lag!
NO MORE LAG! things are just crisp and fast now! im very amazed with the speed increase in this release!
Camera takes pics and are instantly on the screen! no more akward 15 seconds of black screen weird ness!
And now we have a option for a FULL keyboard in portiriate mode! Just like the iPhone!

All i have to say is wow theres soo many more very noticeable changes with .90 and i advise every single BB Storm user on here to upgrade to it! i give it a 9.0 out of 10.0 as there are still a few simple bugs!

Thanks!

have you used the qwerty keyboard in portrait mode? how you liking it?

Well to tell you the truth feels like being right back at home! (iphone)
Its a little tough tho, the keys are very slim and thin but for some reason its easy to hit the key you want every time! The only thing that bugs me is sometimes you cant tell which on you clicked since it only highlights blue when you hit it unlick the pop up letter on the iphone!

Other than that i use it all the time now! .90 is the best out yet! Check it outtt:D

EDIT: The BlackBerry Bold (9000) has been getting alot of attention too lately, im gonna go ahead and order one and do a comparison since it looks like its th emost popular blackberry right now! ill give allittle review and comparison when i get it! Thanks!

Already did! for some reason it takes a second after i turn on the phone!

Still here and lovin the storm, but cant wait till the bold comes!
I just noticed that the other pictures you have do in fact have "EDGE" Capitalized...my mistake ;-).

I have a first generation iPhone right now, but was thinking about doing this myself. How well does the Storm play with the Mac?

Well. its kinda confusing, but i ended up being able to get all my music/calender/address book synced through 2 differnt programs. There is supposed to be a really good one coming out soon that integrates them all.

What programs have you used for yours? I've had the missing sync (not as good as people say it is) and pocketmac, and the new BB media sync, and all of them pretty much leave me displeased. None are clutch like the windows BB sync.

TK, are you still enjoying the Storm? Also, what is the new sync program that is coming out for the Mac?

I am still loving it! .99 was leaked last week, and just keeps getting better and better!

I ordered a bold from a AT&T store up here, but they were back ordered!:confused: SO thats on hold for now, but i did just purchase a Curve 8900 online. It should be here Monday so i can get some pics up as well as a little review!

regarding the mac software, Yes, RIM is working on porting their BBDM to the MAC! hope it goes well! Should be seeing it in late Q3!

Thanks!

Hmm... I don't like or think touch screen mobiles are a good idea at all. Typing messages while walking or doing other stuff is practically impossible without looking at the screen. Serious.. have those of your with iPhone tried emailing without looking?

Those BlackBerries are nice but the whole click thing, reminds me about the stupid trackpad on the new unibodies.. Feels like it'll fall off!! Is it supposed to be so loose?

The trackball is supposed to be like that. The new black ball is tighter, and if you have a Pearl or Curve or 8800 with a white ball, you can upgrade to the new black ball for about $15-20.

It is a little tough to do without looking, but you kinda get used to it. But at the same time you dont haha.

Well, the screen does have little gaps so it can click down smoothly, because if it didnt it be tight against the plasic and it wouldnt be a smooth click. Its fine to me tho, i dont mind much!.

I got a Blackberry off ebay because my previous phone died. The Blackberry was dirt cheap and even though it's an older EDGE model, in some ways it has more functionality than the current iPhones.

I'd like to get an iPhone. I really would.

But it bothers me that Apple is purposely holding features back. If the iPhone had the functionality to accept external keyboards and complete a basic copy/paste, I would have bought it in a second. As it is, this cheapy Blackberry will hold me over until the new iPhones come out in summer. Maybe if Apple has stopped knuckle dragging, I'll get the new version.

Anyway, I'm using PocketMac currently, but if someone has a better suggesting for syncing the Blackberry with OS X I'm all ears.

My problem is the dust getting in along the plastic/screen

edit -
missing sync 2.0 released and supports the Storm
link

MissingSync BB 2.0 has bluetooth syncing. Its not a free upgrade, and that SUCKS, but its definitely the way to go till RIM puts out BB Desktop X.

Justttt incase anyone was wondering, i just got my BlackBerry Curve 8900 to mess with (might make me give up the storm!) ill get a little review up soon!
In the meantime..
