I've had my 3G (personal use) since August and the Storm (work) for a little over three weeks. IMHO there is little comparison between the two.
First off, I've always thought that BB OS and their human interfaces in general are just plain a$$ backwards, and the Storm is no exception. Much of the interface seems like lipstick that BB put on underlying pig of an OS! It is just kludge.
Trying to navigate with the browser is painful without pinch zooming, but try a site with input boxes and/or drop-down lists! Talk about wanting to scream! An absolute joke! Many sites will just flat out not load.
Typing in general is not fun. First off, the auto-correction in landscape mode is not nearly as good as it is on the iPhone, and attempting to place the cursor at the point you'd like to start editing text is a exercise in finger dexterity. The clicking screen definitely puts a cap on the max WPM that one could achieve, even if you hit the correct keys 100% of the time. Click to type should be an option. Oh, and while I'm on the clicking issue, most of the menus, like the BB menu, have the options grouped so close together that between the time you get a blue 'glow' from the item you want when you touch it, to what actually gets selected upon click, many times is different. This is caused by slight rolling of the fingertip up/down/left/right and is just maddening.
Multi-tasking? Great, just don't forget to manually exit applications least you want a dead battery. Nice huh?!?
MMS and video? Never had a use for MMS and the camera itself is not much if any better than the 3G's. The video app itself has crashed the three times that I've tried it so I've given up.
The Holy Grail of BB fanbois: Cut and paste. It works, but see the above comment RE cursor positioning. I think there have been four or five occasions that I really would have liked to have CnP on my 3G.
The phone interface, specifically the call log on the Storm is just odd. (Voice dialing though, now THERE is something that I really do miss and works VERY well.) Call quality on Verizon (and I've had Verizon service for many years) is not as good as AT&T. More reliable and available, but many small drops/pops/clicks/etc.
I have a feeling too, that the BB's app store is going to be a failure too. I just don't see developers flocking to that platform anytime soon as they are going to want to see if the clickscreen architecture is around to stay.
Just my .02
