I think we can all agree though that the 13" macbook, 15" macbook pro, 17" macbook pro are all awesome and fits in perfectly for every different person for price/performance and is easily justifiable as well.

I'd say whatever fits your usage for the price then go for the macbook or any of the macbook pros.

But imho if you'd pay $200 more just for the color black, I'd say might as well go the other extra mile and pay the $300 on top of that $200 to get more features/specs mentioned above.

It's a a duller, less shiny and less fingerprint-prone finish (unlike the black Nintendo DS Lite, for instance) rather than a different vat of paint, but yeah.

I went to the make store at my school, KU, and looked around for what seemed like hours. To be honest it was the first time that I had a chance to see the BMB and the MBP side by side. I have to say the screen was so much more vibrant than the black one, but there is something about that aluminum case that made me think that I would never take it off my desk. the BMB seemed much more portable and looks like the choice for me. I think that I will jut get a 20" lcd monitor and the wireless keyboard for desktop use and I think that set up will keep me happy for quite some time :D

Loaded MB with 23/24" ext. display vs. loaded 15" MBP

I'm one of the many waiting for a Montevina MBP, but I came across this thread since I've been messing around on the Apple Store for a while. I work in the medical field and some of my work involves relatively power-hungry applications (MATLAB, software for imaging, FCP) but 90% of the time I'm using it for basic student-like tasks.

1. Does anyone know of a site that has benchmarked a 2.6 ghz MBP and a 2.4 ghz MB (both with 4gb ram and 250 gb hd's)? Maybe a comparison of the stock models would be fine and I could estimate what it would be for loaded models?

2. A lot of people report overheating & screen problems with the recent Penryn MBPs. Are people having similar problems on MBs? I've looked through the forums and it looks like the MBs are a little less buggy...is this true?

3. The small display issue would be corrected with an external display, and I think the MBP is still more expensive (even with buying an ACD or other high end monitor to go with a MB). For FCP and Photoshop, what would people prefer? Performance gains of the MBP or display size gains with the external screen? Also, 17" MBP isn't an option - I have a 17" PB G4 now and it's a little too much of a pain to carry around.

Thanks in advance.

if you dont do anything that will require a seperate video card there is no reason to waste the money on mbp
just get a macbook and if you want more screen real estate just buy an external

the macbook has enough power to handle most needs.
