Question is, with the new 24" 4k Ultrafines, are you able to daisy chain the monitors into the BM eGPU? Trying to find a solution to potentially daisy chain ultrafines to an egpu for my mac mini, or am I just better off with a Macbook Pro with dGPU like the 16"?

It should work, but there are much cheaper options to hook two 24" 4k monitors to a mini through an eGPU.

I understand they’re other 24” 4K monitors. I’m assuming they’ll look almost the same minus panel quality and brightness? PPI and quality should be the same? If i didn’t have to go ultra fines and got good monitors that aren’t UltraFines then i can do razer core x and 580 etc but my main stump is monitors.

Ideally I’d go with the 34” 5k2k ultrawide but heard there are issues so considering just standard 4K monitors instead.

Or next scenario, would it be possible to daisy chain the OLD 27" 5k into NEW 27"5k then into blackmagic eGPU into mac mini?

I see a post where it was successful when the new 24" ultrafine was used with the old 27"5k in daisy chain and worked, so I assume it would be possible with the 5k? Not sure if bandwith would be an issue or not

The LG UltraFine 5K displays require two DisplayPort connections to support 5K. A Thunderbolt controller only has two DisplayPort connections. Therefore you will not get more than 4K from the 5K display if it is daisy chained to another Thunderbolt display. Since the 5K displays take two DisplayPort connections, they do not have a second Thunderbolt 3 port for daisy chaining, so they must be connected at the end of a Thunderbolt chain.

You can daisy chain two 24" LG UltraFine 4K displays, no problem. Or one 24" LG UltraFine 4K and one 21" LG UltraFine 4K (the 21" goes at the end of the chain because it is not a Thunderbolt display).
