    Here is what I have:
    iPhone 3GS, 32gb, Ver. 3.1.2(7D11), Model MC134J, Firmware 05.11.07.
When I install blackra1n followed by Cydia on my iPhone everything is great (awesome!). Once I have to recharge the iPhone calls for an iTunes restore. I can launch blackra1n again to prevent this but that is cumbersome and only available on my PC. Sometimes I need to recharge away from home. I read the following on blackra1n.com: "If your ipt2/3GS/ipt3 is rebooting into recovery after running blackra1n, this isn't a bug. It's a feature. You need to run blackra1n every time to boot it. This 'feature', called tethered jailbreak, is enabled by upgrades Apple made to the bootrom and the fact ipt3 uses nand flash."
My bottom-line questions are: "Why when I recharge my phone do I need to run blackra1n again to prevent a restore? and "Is there a way to prevent this?"

Thanks in advance for your help. palmerpinckney

Do you mean when you have to recharge from off..? because you should only have to run blackra1n to boot it, not when it is just plugged in to charge.
The reason why is because every time the new iphone 3Gs' boot up they check that the phone hasn't been 'corrupted' by a jailbreak. Blackra1n boots the phone so it doesn't go through that process. This is not strange or new information here, please use the search function first to get answers next time.
There is no way to prevent this. it is less of a feature and more a necessity.
The best way of coping with this is just to recharge before it powers down.

    Thanks pixelated

I understand. My problem happens when I plug the phone in for a charge. No, the phone is not dead or off. Most of the time my phone is at +40 percent when I recharge. But as soon as I plug it in this is what happens: I get a picture on the iPhone screen showing a iPhone plug and text asking me to connect to iTunes. Once I launch iTunes I am asked to restore the phone. Though I can bypass this by running blackra1n I was wondering if there is a way around my recharge dilemma. I have searched the Web and this forum and do not see a solution. Thanks again and let me know.

no. thats called a tethered jailbreak. and until geohot gets off his lazy butt and starts making iphone jailbreaks again, you wont be able to get around it.

Well, it is clearly a slightly different problem if his phone is still on. and what happened to your JB release date? coming up soon or is your butt too lazy too?

hmm, how strange. Same result charging from wall and computer? Do you have your SHSH on file so you can restore to 3.1.2 and check if this is normal for your phone un-jailbroken..? Then you will know to get a replacement or not.
