Do ya think maybe Suresec would be happy if Apple hired them to audit their code? Everything they say has been said before. How many times have we heard this

The only thing which has kept Mac OS X relatively safe up until now is the fact that the market share is significantly lower than that of Microsoft Windows or the more common UNIX platforms.

Clearly that is the ONLY way to avoid Mac viruses, global warming, and destruction of all we hold dear

I can't wait until there is a good alternative to Office for the Mac so I can get rid of all things Microsoft. Their stuff is just plain dangerous.

imo, there is. it is called Pages & Keynote. my brother is screaming, "write textedit. write textedit." :)

well i'm sure what's wrong with my powerbook, but i tried to open a powerpoint for my girlfriend, b/c it wouldn't open on her pc. i got the file to open, but when i opened it again, powerpoint closed by itself, and kept doing that. i finally got it to work with keynote. any ideas? now i can't open anything with powerpoint

that would be the microsoft bug itself. ;)

SO, quit forwarding all of those "CUTE" emails because you think someone will enjoy it.

there was this punk once bragged how fast his pc is and all, saying how slow my g4 was and all and somehow i sent him an email by "chance" with a virus. he stopped bragging for weeks. he was busy reinstalling everything. the nerd in me was happy.

I saw a commercial too. they were talking about the virus and they showed some lady using an iMac G4. I was at the gym, so I could barely hear it. I assumed that they were talking about how macs couldn't get it. :D

I read that more than a milllion windows users switched to Mac last year, I was one of this million. As Mac grows market share the threat for viruses WILL increase. The best protection Mac has against viruses is that a virus written for Mac wouldn't infect enough comps to make it worth the programmers time. That will change as more people catch on to the mediocrity that Microsoft has shoved their throats for years.
Well, even so, considering that they've had five years and we've been na-na-naing them the whole time gives pretty good indication a virus won't pop up for many, many years.

If you were a virus writer, wouldn't you want to write one for a bunch of people to prove them wrong? I know I would.

Since no one answered this I'll give it a shot. I've seen this happen to windows media player before and the fix was just deleting the preference file, so maybe since they're both MS products, it'll work for powerpoint too. Give it a whirl.
