Blank screen with macbook 16 clamshell mode(external monitor)

So most of the time my new macbook 16 is in clamshell mode and hooked up to a 1080p external monitor.
Sometimes it wakes up with a blank screen and even if I try to unhook it and open the macbook it's still stuck at a blank screen. Only force shutdown helps
Anybody else having this issue?

Do you have the monitor directly connected or through a dock or hub? So far, the only time I've had issues was when using a particular Thunderbolt 3 hub from HP.
