Hey all. Got a question and im pretty sure the answer is no but i want to ask. I bought a used iphone 4s on ebay many years ago, might been in 2014 if i had to take a guess. It was in pretty good condition and the seller mentioned they used it for a few years but it was basically very good condition. After using it for a while, the battery went bad. Where i had to switch batteries 3 times i believe. But i did this at those local cell phone places where they charge like 30 dollars or less each time. But the battery always never hit 100 percent and drained very fast to the point where it was useless. Well after a while i noticed the back of the iphone bloated in a way like a bloated battery but its not that bloated. Its basically popped etc.

At the moment, i dont have it on me and left it in my apartment in another country. First off, since i bought it used on ebay few years ago and obviously have no warranty etc, that means there is no way i could return this old iphone right? Thus if i bought it brand new but this happened to my phone, could i actually return it to apple and possibly get a new one? I thought this was not possible until i read people say apple would replace it if it was not due to your fault. However if thats the case, how long does the warranty even last to? I ask this because i like to know could i even return the iphone 4s? And if so, i would have to pay for the repairs right? And thus the cost of repairs would be more than the actual value of it so theres no point? So what would you guys do with a bloated iphone 4s that doesn't work etc.

Most likely you are not covered up Apple Warranty because they stopped selling the iPhone 4s at least 2 years ago, and warranty is 1 year, and Apple Care + would only extend it to 2 years (i think).
You might as sell the phone for parts or just trade it in when buying a new phone. The 4s does not hold much value anyways.

You've had the battery replaced 3 times already, so it won't be the official Apple battery that you have inside your iPhone 4S. The shops that replaced your battery probably just used the cheapest replacement battery they could rather than a better quality battery, hence why you've needed 3 new batteries in 3/4 years.

Go on Amazon/eBay and buy a battery replacement kit for £20 or so and replace it yourself. It's easy to do.

Hi there. My issue now is more of the i don't think the iphone even works now. So if i had the iphone 4s with me, just bring it to repair shop and see what they estimate it would cost to fix the phone? Thus if its more than xx amount, then forget about it since its not worth that much anymore? How much is a used iphone 4s worth now? The other thing is on ebay there seem to be new iphone 4s that they sell on ebay. But those are 100 percent refurbished right as its not possible really to have a brand new iphone 4s unless someone bought it and just left it brand new and unopened?

I don't think it is a good financial move to spend more money on the iPhone 4s. At this point, it is nothing more than a novelty phone. Consider getting a newer phone.

Hi there got a question. Im going to most likely go to make appointment for apple store to get battery replacement for my iphone SE. Now the iphone 4s that has the battery bloated and does not work, i have it sitting on the closet etc... what should i do with it? Do i just dump it into garbage or should i break it even more? The reason i ask this is because i think im logged into my email account when this thing happened and also i did not set a password for it etc. Also that means this phone is completely useless right? Is there any point of going to a local repair shop and have them look at it just to see what they say and what price it would be to fix it?

The one issue i have with this if they could fix it is if they fix it somehow, would they be able to access my phone like my email and all my information since i did not put a password on it?

Thanks.
