block and delete this group chat ?

I was looking for a way to block a group chat
And saw this post on Reddit

But I’m on iOS 17.2 and I don’t see this option anywhere
To block and delete the group chat

Is it an iMessage group chat? (blue bubbles) Because that feature is for SMS/MMS conversations only. For iMessage groups, I think the option is still "Leave conversation".

Everybody has an iPhone , but on that Reddit post it says regardless if all users use iPhone

I unfortunately don’t have a great way to test this, but as far as I know it works differently with iMessage and SMS. If it’s an iMessage group chat, you can use the “leave” option (assuming it’s a group of 4 or more) because your iPhone can tell all the other iPhones to remove you from the group, but if it’s SMS there’s no way for your phone to do that so the only option to “leave” is to block and delete the incoming messages. So in effect, I would think that the features are the same, but until recently there was no way of leaving an SMS group chat. If I could make a guess that’s what the Reddit title meant.
