My girlfriend is getting and responding to texts from someone that is simply named "BLOCKED". I had never seen this before until the past couple weeks and it has raised a concern. I asked her about this and why she didn't block them completely so she didn't even have to see that. She said there are some people she has blocked completely so that she never receives texts or calls but there's another way to do it so that they show up with the name blocked. She didn't say anything about just changing the contact name and actually said she had multiple people like that. Can anyone confirm that there is a way this could happen other than just changing the name of the contact?

Assuming this is actual SMS/MMS or iMessages, changing the contact name seems to be the most straightforward way that would be doable. Can't really think of another way it would appear like that.
