Blocking a specific URL in Safari

Hey does anyone know what program I can use to block a specific url in Safari? Specifically sub sites of facebook, myspace, etc. Thanks.

You can do it via www.opendns.com by changing you DNS settings to theirs and using the online control panel to block access.

You can also do it using Parental Controls on Leopard (But not earlier versions.)

Or you can sudo nano /etc/hosts and add

127.0.0.1 ad1.netshelter.com

To give a practical example. That site is delaying the load of a page like this one on MacRumors🙂

You can install an Extension called WasteNoTime. (go here - https://extensions.apple.com/ and if you click on productivity, it'll be listed)

It's great and allows you to set a time limit for whatever day you'd like.
