You've got to use the Scanner menu, in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

In any case, though, I can't say that I can identify any of those right away as suspicious, but that doesn't mean that they're all good either. Open Firefox and choose Add-Ons from the Tools menu, then click the Extensions item on the left side of the window. In the list of extensions, try disabling them one at a time (making sure to restart Firefox each time), then browse for a while and see if the problem is gone. When the problem goes away, you'll know the last extension you removed was the bad one.

Also, I usually recommend using as few browser extensions as possible, preferably 5 or less. Every browser extension you have installed is a potential security vulnerability waiting to happen in your browser.

Because I dont use a english language browser, I'm unsure if this is true of both extension and add-ons or both?

Well, I did that... and even when I turned of every single extension, it still happened... How is that possible?

Extensions are the only add-ons that really matter for this issue.

If you're 100% sure that the problem is only happening in Firefox, and that every Firefox extension is disabled, then that's a more unusual case. Some adware has been known to make changes to the Firefox app itself, and most adware makes changes to browser settings files. At this point, I'd recommend deleting Firefox and all its settings files, then reinstall it from scratch.

You could block these sites using your hosts file.

To do that, download and install the freeware TextWrangler:

http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/download.html

Once you have downloaded it and installed it in your applications folder, click on the desktop to make sure you are Finder, then pull down the Go menu to Go To Folder.

In the Go To Folder window, enter

/etc

and then hit return. This should open the hidden /etc folder.

In that folder you will find a file called "hosts". Right-click on hosts and choose Open With, then Other, then TextWrangler.

It should open a file that looks like this:

##
##
# Host Database
#
# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
##
127.0.0.1 localhost
255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
::1 localhost
fe80::1%lo0 localhost
You need to add two lines to the hosts file so that it looks like this:

##
##
# Host Database
#
# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
##
127.0.0.1 localhost
255.255.255.255 broadcast host
0.0.0.0 cas.criteo.com
0.0.0.0 cas.critero.com
::1 localhost
fe80::1%lo0 localhost
Save the file and reboot your computer. Your computer should now no longer be able to access those two sites. You can add similar sites you want to block in a similar manner.

I'm sorry, but I've tried reading the text on the site, but I still dont get how it works. It's all to academic for me. Filters this, share filter that, codes and preferences. But nothing how to block and actual site, step by step.
If you know how to do it, could you just tell me? It just need to block this one site...

I already provided an example in message #13, above.

Has glimmerblocker firewalled me? I cant seem to seed torrents anymore...
