Hi,
I would like to add a news page on my iweb site where i can write small texts.
I want to display the title and a few lines with a "read more" feature

Using the blog theme is not what I want because I don't want people to have access to the archive of those news.
or is it possible to hide the archive page for site visitors?

every help will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

This would take a lot of advanced hackery to do in iWeb. Do you know how to program? If not, i'd look for another solution than iWeb.

Why iWeb? Although it's the easiest way, there are other ways which require a little bit more knowledge, but the result will be astonishing.

So you can either create an account on Wordpress.com, and start blogging right away (while still having all of wordpress' advanced features at your fingertips), or get yourself a domain (or a sub-domain), download & install Wordpress yourself from Wordpress.org, download some themes (or just one you like, in order to save space for other content), some plugins (in order to extend WP's functionality, if the default one does not satisfy your needs), and, again, you're good to go.

The latter requires you to gather certain knowledge if you don't have it already (about FTP -- File Transfer Protocol -- and databases -- mainly just what 'host', 'port', 'username', and 'password' mean and where to get them). You can search for a free hosting plan here (I'd recommend l4rge.com because of the space you get -- 15GB, ad-free), and get a free MySQL database from d b 4 f r e e (I don't know why the forum blocks it, but google it without the spaces). What to do with them if you decide to go the hard way is written here, under the "Installation" tab.
