I regret going from 8 to 10 with the loss of the blood ox readings. I thought this would be resolved before 2028.
In the meantime find the sleep apnea system on 10 of little use to me.
I have sleep apnea, and find the sleep disturbances to be widely inconsistent compared to my results from the MyAir app and my results from my Wellue O2 ring. I do have episodes at night where I stop breathing and the Apple Watch isn’t picking those disturbances up, because it’s tracking wrist movements instead of SpO2. If SpO2 was working alongside the breathing disturbances, I think it would be more consistent.

Which is why I left Apple Watch. That feature was important to me. Apple is a big company and it could’ve settled the lawsuit very easily.
I am curious how exactly do you use the feature? It’s not FDA approved, not recommended for medical use, and honestly I never looked at mine and I don’t change any routine based on the reading as compared to to say, HR readings. Maybe Apple felt the same that’s why they are willing to drag this out…..

I thought it was something I would use all the time and when I first got my Ultra, I checked it all the time even though I had nothing to compare it to. Now, it's just one of those things on my watch that I rarely use. For me, the only time I use it now is if I'm not feeling well.

I've found Apple Watch to be pretty bad at anything related to sleep. I wore a Fitbit Sense before my Ultra2 and the Fitbit was a much better sleep tracker. The Fitbit would detect short naps and knew the difference between inactivity and going to bed. My Ultra2 regularly thinks I'm asleep when I'm just sitting for a long stretch and then when I'm actually asleep, it won't figure it out unless I'm asleep for at least 90 minutes without interruption.

I live near the Canadian border and picked up a series 10 in Burlington, Ontario. It has the 02. With the exchange rate the price worked out to be almost the same as in the US. Downside was I didn't have the option of no interest payments. Canada has 4.99% if you want to pay over time.

You could always get rid of it and get an early Series 9….. functionally I don’t believe there’s much difference between the 9 and the 10, only cosmetic.
I looked closely at these 9s, but BB had and still only has an aluminum case and SS at Walmart had a horrible price.

I have to say that third-party apps make this much better on Apple Watch. I used AutoSleep for 7 years until the end of 2024, stopping because it was falsely detecting sleep when I wasn't. I started using Sleep++ in January and it's been nearly perfect all year.

Thanks for the rec! Does Sleep++ automatically detect sleep including naps without having to set schedules? Does it allow you to edit your sleep periods?

My other gripe about Apple Health's data is that it's impossible to edit anything. If it gets my sleep wrong, I'm deleting 75 short entries which is doubly annoying because it happens all the time.

I just wish they would come up with a new HR sensor as both my S10 and U2 lose HR all the time during workouts. I understand the low temperature thing but when I workout in 80 degrees, it still “borks”!

I can't tell you about naps - I rarely take them; it's been years since I have. Looking at the web site, it does not mention naps, so perhaps not. I can say that AutoSleep does record naps, though, if you want to try that. But as for detecting sleep - yes, it does, and it is much better than the stock app.

It does have a mode where you can manually say that you are going to sleep, but I've never used it.

You can edit the start and end times of sleep periods by as much as four hours each way.

Have you ever had a smartwatch that has good HR tracking? I don't think they exist. Wrist-based HR tracking is always going to be lacking. I've worn a Fitbit, a Garmin, and now an Ultra2. All were terrible at challenging HR tracking situations. They do pretty well if you're walking leisurely, but can't handle anything more unpredictable. I've since resorted to buying a Polar H9 chest strap monitor.

While I wish my S10 Hermes had a working O2 sensor, it's not something I really need. My readings have never been abnormal, and have no reason at all to be abnormal, and I almost certainly would know that I'm sick if they became abnormal. That said, I do like it for peace of mind. I've taken lately to working out and sleeping with my Ultra 2 (which I bought before the patent issues) and wearing the S10 Hermes to work.
