If Apple is not dropping an updated 13" MBP, why would it take so long to order one? Any BTO upgrades push deliver out to 11/20.

Also - how long can they ship a "Pro" with a worse screen than the air?

Timmy loves rainbows and colors, but he can't release a couple of additional MBP colors for all the pro users.

Boggles the mind.

Yep, that's why I think Apple fool Gurnam again with MBP13.

The redesign of MBP13 might be the star of the show, we shall see. That's why I created a thread titled below:

What makes it more "Pro" than the Air if you take all that away? It's just a lumpy Air at that point.
Fan supposedly makes it more "Pro". In practice, this mostly matters when playing graphics intensive games or lengthy operations like video export.

My kid uses MacBook Air M2 and it runs games like Rocket League under Windows 11 (via VMWare Fusion Tech Preview) just fine. It takes a lot to push it to a territory where the fan would matter.

We hear rumors about memory and cores in the Pro and Max - are there rumors about the base memory in the M3 (non pro)?

While technically feasible, it’s Unlikely since it would devastate M2 Max Studio sales.

It would also only be $200 cheaper. We know from the MBP that Apple charges $500 to go from Pro to Max. So you’d get a $1,799 mini with Max, and it’d have some worse specs, worse cooling (which would make the Max less useful) and fewer ports. Or you can get the base Studio for $200 more.

Agreed. You have to absolutely hammer the MacBook Pro 16 to kick the fans into gear.

If the Max can be cooled inside the MacBook Pros it can be called inside a Mini too...

We'll only be seeing devices next week with a base M3 chip in them - iMac, MacBook Air, iPad Pros, etc. Apple has never once released pro and max versions of those chips at the same time (for obvious reasons).

It sounds like the Pro version will be coming first in this case, though, with the base M3 following later?

Two different predictions in a single week, top job Gurman, covering every of the 2 possible outcomes. Glad we have that wrapped up in an article.
Ya, it’s like “it could rain today, or it could be dry”. 😂🤣. How does that count as a prediction? The dude seriously is bad at this the last year or so. I feel like just pulling out the dice to predict what Apple will do. Probably a bit more accurate, lol! 😂🤣. (Now, in his defense, it does seem that Apple has upped their game to stop leaks, but still, seems far less accurate than he used to be).

apple tactics seem to be everything except simplifying the lineup
Ya, so instead of having cheaper MacBook Pros with a bit lower power chips, but a lot of nice bells and whistles the MacBook Air doesn’t have, instead, we shouldn’t have that in-between option, and only have MacBook Air or more expensive MacBook Pro? What if some people like the 13” MacBook Pro form factor? Maybe you don’t like it, but Apple offering it to people who do doesn’t hurt you.

Obviously, at this point, wait & see what is revealed in a few days. But if the hypothetical $1100 AppleTV+ + $1300 MB + $1600 Mac Mini is seen as "expensive," you might want to brace yourself for an iMac "Bigger", probably branded PRO and priced more like the previous iMac branded Pro... which was priced a LOT higher than the iMac 27" pricing everyone fondly recalls.

This is what i am actually afraid of, finally a Mac with a bigger screen but one that's hardly affordable. Given the pricepoint of the mini and the studio display they should be able to present something for half that price. And a full specd one for 3/4th.
I'm very close to buying a Samsung M8 smart monitor and hook it up to one of their laptops. Or in fact buy an 'old' 2020 5K Intel that natively lets me run windows as a bonus

What I would really like to see is a Raspberry Pi Zero-like system. Very basic with several USB ports, WiFi, and HDMI. The M1 would be perfect for that and would outperform the Pi 4+. Don't need GPIO since there are USB GPIO devices available. I doubt Apple would ever make it but that would be an amazing system.

Ya, even a “Mac Ultra Mini” about the size of a standard Raspberry PI that could run on battery power would be awesome! 👍🏻. That would probably be an instant buy for me!
