I don’t know if I could hold out that long with my iPhone X. I could always try. 😉

Fun aside, based on the hodgepodge role out of 5G, which many claimed was gonna be revolutionary, I think too many have cried wolf to justify really getting excited about this, too.

Besides, 5G was supposed to make mobility king, with so many of us working from home these days, the need for fast mobile networks is kinda redundant.

If they market 6G as being a wireless network that replaces the average home internet with focus on rural communities then ya, it might actually be something to look forward to.

Uh oh. The conspiracy nuts already think 5G spreads covid & controls people’s minds....can you imagine what they’ll say about 6G? 😂 🤦‍♂️

Hiring 6g techs when no one can utilize 5g. Seems legit.

Technology does take time to develop. If a company waits to start development on a future version until the current version is successfully deployed then the development cycle is going to be a lot longer. I guarantee you that they have started work on the iPhone 14 even though 13 is 5-6 months away from being manufactured. They probably have preliminary work being done on possible iPhone 15 and 16 technology.

Will be curious to see where they go with this.

Bandwidth is limited by spectrum and there's only so much more efficiency you can squeeze out of the same chunk of spectrum with new encoding standards. New spectrum is becoming harder and harder to come by after TV went to digital.

The jump from 4G to 5G is only about 20% given the same chunk of frequency, I don't see them doing much more than that. Lower latency, more MIMO is about the only areas I imagine them making gains. But this can all be achieved with simply improving 5G.

Honestly the biggest gains were with LTE that was truly a revolutionary step with a packet switched network.

ahah true. Pretty bad situation in DE. My German friends are always amazed when I tell them that here in Italy it's normal to have 50+ GB :)

I'm in the US but my parents in the UK pay £20/m for 160GB 5G and you can get truly unlimited (not fake unlimited like they offer in the US) for £35/m and that's on the best network in the UK. If you go with some of the worse networks like 3 then you can get unlimited data for £20/m.

The US is cheaper for almost everything, except fixed line internet and cell plans. I managed to find Mint Mobile and pay $20/m for 10GB which obviously isn't as good as I could get in the UK but I don't use much data as I almost always have WiFi.

AT&T: Let’s rebrand 5G to 6G Evolution and we will become the world first 6G carrier
I never did understand why, and I am assuming here, that Apple allowed that 5Ge to even be displayed. I had a iPhone X and I know some people thought that because it said 5Ge they were indeed getting actual 5G speeed

Do 5G right first
Amen.

My 12 Pro drops signal every morning when I go from my car into my office and has to be cycled through airplane mode to work.

Hey VZW & Apple. It's a premium product, not a tracfone. Get it right!

By the time 6G comes, capped data plans should be cheap as hell since even 5G can eat up 1 GB in just one speed test.

Unless governments and/or internet companies are going to invest a lot of money to expand their bandwidth capabilities this isn’t going to make a huge difference.
