I replaced the glass of my Late 2011 Macbook Pro (A1278) *I did not unplug the battery or turn the computer off during installation. I unplugged the camera and plugged it back in while the computer was on. When I open Facetime I am prompted with a "No Camera Available" I have done the following steps: Rebooted, Reset SMC, sudo killall VDCAssistant & sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant in terminal. I have done some research and noticed its probably a blown ferrite bead. What is the location of it? Is difficult / how to fix?

As someone that fixes computers for a living (including being certified for Apple repairs), might I ask why you made this decision? Step 1 for human and electronics safety is to turn off the computer and unplug the battery and power adapter!!

Thank you. I didn't know this. I've not worked on pre-2013 MacBook Airs/Pros for a long time.
In all honesty, neither did I until I googled it, and it showed someone just using a tool to separate the glass from the panel on an older MBP :)

It's too bad that more recent MacBook parts are more difficult, and costly, to replace.

I'm not sure how to determine whether the issue lies with the camera itself or a part on the logic board. From what I've read, I think the issue is on the logic board and the simplest solution may be to use a USB camera if possible.

Well, I'm of the opinion that its Apple's intent to not repair these things and basically force the consumer to buy a new one.

I've done this in the past 2010/2012 unibody MBP front glass replacement, only hair dryer, suction cup needed, extra careful when pulling where isight camera cable is located but definitely shutdown and unplug power connector from logic board.
