I would like to play some blu ray movies on my iMac 27 inch but am unable to do so as my Mac does not have that facility so can someone tell me what type or make of USB blu ray player will work with my Mac .

You need an HDMI connection in order to connect a Blu-ray player to your Mac.

Apple is not supporting HDMI yet - probably never, which is really too bad.

The new super thin iMac should have an HDMI connection, especially since Apple removed the SuperDrive. If we have to purchase a stand alone optical drive now, they could at least acquiesce and give us HDMI capability.

Need a new optical drive

I'm considering getting an External USB Blu Ray drive. They go for around £20 on ebay and I'm tempted to get one as my iMac's Optical Drive has recently given up the will to read DVD's.

Has anyone here got one or know if they're any good as I can't justify £60 plus for one off Amazon?

What use on my 2008 Mac Pro was using a simple share Mac Blu Ray Player. I already had an older case that had SATA and Firewire 800 (in your case just get a USB3 capable case) and put in a Blu-ray player into it. It works great on my Dell display and runs great.

Connect external blu ray drive to mac mini

I want to connect a blu ray optical drive removed from a Dell laptop (model: Panasonic UJ-225) that has an IDE/PATA connection to my Mac Mini 2012. Is that possible via USB or other way? Like an external caddy?
