Blu Ray playback

I've gone and done it and finally bought the 27inch retina iMac. Loving it so far, but I didn't realise it can't play blu Rays out of the box. I have an external blu ray player/Burner, but I can't actually play any blu Ray discs.... Is there a software alternative?

Also - and totally unrelated, can anybody point me in the direction of a good encore equivalent....
