I am interested in a program for playing Blu-rays. What is the best option? I have used a free player but that doesn't seem to work right.

thanks for the help. This probably has been asked a lot over the years.

Are you looking for something to play commercial Blu-ray discs? If yes, you'll have to look for a paid version in order to get full Blu-ray menu support. You'll also have to make sure that the Macbook is able to provide a protected audio path in order to pass dts-hd and trueHD over hdmi to a receiver for decoding.

As far as I know, Blu-ray has never been natively supported on the Mac. I occasionally buy Blu-ray discs of my favourite series, but in that case my intention is to import them with MakeMKV (paid) and convert them with other software to native formats like H.264. (And at that point, it's just the tracks – not the full Blu-ray experience with menus and interactivity.)

For full Blu-ray menu support, I believe the software must have Java 2.0 support which means the software maker needs to buy a Java licence.

I am interested in only playback on my MacBook air. which is better Aurora or Macgo or are there any others?
